Mist NDT / Damien Jalet
Mist is a hypnotic dance film that intertwines body and nature in a poetic exploration of transience and transformation. The work balances between reality and illusion, inspired by mist, myths and the constant movement of water.
Created during the pandemic, Mist exudes surrender, mystery, and sensory wonder. Inspired by fog banks and the intersections of science and mythology, this film sees bodies collide and merge with matter in an ever-changing space. Eighteen dancers move through mists that evoke forces of nature such as volcanic eruptions, avalanches, and falling water. The work is reminiscent of da Vinci’s sfumato, blurring boundaries and merging sight with the intangible. Through Rahi Rezvani’s lens and Urs Schonenbaum’s lighting design, the choreography takes on a haunting, spiritual charge, deeply rooted in mythical and cultural reflections on the afterlife.
