Milky Way (8+) Maas theater en dans / STUDIO VAVOOM / Freek Nieuwdorp

Milky Way, created at Maas theater en dans and performed with great success in the 2023/2024 season, won a Zilveren Krekel (for most impressive youth theatre production) and was nominated for a Jonge Zwaan (for most impressive youth dance production). Milky Way is now being revived with a completely new cast of passionate dancers.

Sitting on a bench by the school sports field. Alone. Everyone is gone. Your sports bag lies lost beside you and music plays in your earbuds. You stare at the sky until your eyes sting and the cloud colours fade. You almost fall off your bench while sitting there with all your questions. Why can I sometimes feel so alone while there is so much in this universe? How can it be that the earth is so big, but only a small dot in the Milky Way? Why do my sneakers have to be bought with room to grow? When will I be fully grown, or will I never be? Or am I expanding infinitely, just like the universe.

But then suddenly nothing is what it seems. In your backpack, a portal to another dimension opens and suddenly you are no longer alone with your questions. Floating upside down through the Milky Way, you go in search of answers.

Milky Way is an imaginative, physical theatre performance about sometimes feeling lonely, but being in that together. A performance about hanging between being a child and an adult and setting your questions in motion. And above all, about having the confidence that there is always someone there for you when the questions in your head threaten to overflow.
