More than Bauxite is an important and compelling theatre work that sheds light on untold war stories from Suriname. Emma Lesuis inherited a wealth of archive material from Suriname with film footage from the 1940s and 1950s.
It is always said that there was no war in the former colony, but what did happen there at the time? Emma visited places where the exciting stories came to life and spoke to people who still had memories of those - for many - good old days. The result of her research has been elaborated in an intimate and cinematic theatre performance at the intersection of music theatre, documentary and storytelling.
