Mark Lotterman speelt Hans Verhagen & Andre Manuel
Mark Lotterman plays Verhagen: "For many years one of the Netherlands' strongest and most valuable lyricists, performers and artists." That is how Lucky Fonz III describes Rotterdam native Mark Lotterman, who returned in 2024 with idiosyncratic Dutch-language music after a six-year break, during which he worked in youth care.
Accessible and profound, humorous and sad, realistic and absurd. Recognisable characters in Dutch drama. This afternoon at Worm, he presents Ergens Anders, a new album based on the work of poet Hans Verhagen. At the age of 19, Mark Lotterman became friends with poet, painter and TV maker Hans Verhagen (1939-2020). After Verhagen won the PC Hooftprijs, they slowly lost touch in 2009. Four years after his death, in 2024, Lotterman received 150 cassette tapes from the Verhagen estate, containing Verhagen's audio archive, featuring recited poetry as well as music that Verhagen made. The recordings on this record were selected from these cassette tapes. In addition, this release contains four poems by Verhagen, set to music by Mark Lotterman. Spinvis also made a contribution.
