Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord
Which stories are passed down within your family? And which memories, traditions and experiences tell something about where you come from?
During Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord, we will join Leyla Hepsaydir from Stories of a Street in search of the family histories of residents from Rotterdam-Noord. In a relaxed and accessible setting, there is space to share stories and memories, to listen to each other and to meet one another.
With a cup of coffee or tea, we will talk to each other and work with textiles during a creative workshop. By drawing, writing and embroidering, we will give shape to our stories. The contributions will become part of a collective tablecloth: a growing archive of the memories, knowledge and traditions that live in Rotterdam-Noord.
The meetings take place at various locations in Rotterdam-Noord. You do not need any experience with textiles or creative techniques. Everyone is welcome to join, participate or just listen.
During the sessions, coffee and tea are free. Reservations are preferred, but you can always walk in. Participation is completely free!
Festive closing on 20 December On 20 December, we will present the final result of Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord. We will conclude the project together with a festive dinner. A moment to celebrate the collected stories and the collective tablecloth and to come together around everything we have shared with each other.
For the dinner and the closing programme, you pay € 15 per person. More information about the programme and ticket sales will follow.
Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord is a project by Studio de Bakkerij in collaboration with Leyla Hepsaydir from Stories of a Street. The collected stories will form the basis for a community theatre performance in 2027.
