Keti Koti Bevrijding Festival Rotterdam 2026

Celebrate freedom in Rotterdam on Wednesday, July 1 during Keti Koti!

A day of remembrance and coming together, with music, culture, and meeting at various locations in the city, including the Bigi Spikri parade, performances, conversations, and food.

During Keti Koti, we commemorate and celebrate the abolition of slavery in the Netherlands and Suriname. The commemoration takes place on June 30. We celebrate the liberation on July 1 with a Keti Koti Festival. On that day in 1863, the Emancipation Act came into force and slavery was abolished in Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles.

Admission is free and for all ages, so mark this date in your calendar and celebrate and commemorate with us.

Locations: Wijkpark Oude Westen, Schouwburgplein and de Doelen.
