Kasimir & Karoline

For the fourth year in a row, students from the MBO Theaterschool are creating a full-fledged performance at Theater Mooi Weer. We are very proud of this collaboration and of the young talents who can be admired in this project. Under the guidance of Mooi Weer director Lynn Schutter, the actors rehearse and perform in a professional setting. Because where better to learn than in 'practice'?

What happens to love and charity when people are hit hard in their wallets? The Hungarian-German Ödön von Horváth wrote Kasimir en Karoline in 1932. He was living in Berlin at the time and witnessed what the severe economic crisis and skyrocketing inflation were causing. The National Socialists wanted nothing to do with his critical plays. Horváth died in exile in Paris, just before the outbreak of the Second World War.
