Calefax and Joris Luyendijk
In the successful series ''Welcome to Calefaxland” Calefax invites a special guest each year.
Not a musician, but someone with a love of music. For this fifth edition, that guest is anthropologist and writer Joris Luyendijk. He has written on a wide range of topics, including the Middle East, the financial world, and social issues such as populism. In this performance, he delves into the topic of giftedness. Calefax performs music by composers such as Bach and Nancarrow, who are known for their masterful musical structures.
As both an anthropologist and a journalist, Joris Luyendijk has been exploring how the world works for over twenty years. He has written for publications such as NRC, De Correspondent, and The Guardian on topics including the Middle East, the banking sector, and the rise of populism. He is also the author of well-known books such as They’re Just Like People, the international bestseller This Can’t Be True, and The Seven Checkmarks.
