Jim White Duo [US]

Dark stories, dreamy sounds, and a glimpse of The Divided States of America

Jim White is a globetrotter through and through: from taxi driver in New York to preacher and fashion model in Milan. But his heart lies in the Southern States, whose culture and contradictions he translates into haunting, dark songs full of folk, country, and Americana.

As "The King of Country Noir," he unravels the secrets of the American South and confronts his own demons. Jim White is no stranger to Europe: following his album Waffles, Triangles & Jesus (2017), he appeared on the VPRO programs Vrije Geluiden and Buiten Spelen. Now he returns with his Belgian Superstar Band and delivers a fantastic show full of stories, humor, and that typical Jim White magic. This evening, he takes you to the Divided States of America through music and stories. He will undoubtedly perform his eponymous song, The Divided States of America, which quite accurately depicts the harrowing political situation in the US.

Jim White is an icon in the contemporary alternative country and roots music scene. He was discovered in the late 1990s by David Byrne, singer of the legendary group Talking Heads, and signed to his label Luaka Bop. For his records, White collaborated with big names such as Joe Henry, Bill Frisell, Morcheeba, and Aimee Mann.
