Heerenhuyskamerconcert - All Over the World

Surprising mix of Bach, jazz standards, Argentine tango and own compositions.

In one hour you will travel around the world with violinist Lonneke van Straalen, bandoneonist Santiago Cimadevilla and double bassist Thomas Pol. These three top musicians combine their creativity in a program in which music from all corners of the world sounds: they take you from Argentina to New Orleans, via Western Europe to the Balkans and back to the Netherlands. Expect a surprising mix of Bach, jazz standards, Argentine tango and their own compositions!

Violinist Lonneke van Straalen is one of the most idiosyncratic and enterprising violinists of the moment. She loves traditions and innovation. In 2017, she founded the well-known collective Pynarello, with the aim of making classical music more accessible and adventurous. For this, she received the Prix Madeleine Margot, a prize for proven artistry, in which she is praised for connecting people and stretching musical boundaries.

Argentinian Santiago Cimadevilla is a bandoneonist, composer and arranger, and is also a teacher at the tango department of Codarts. He tours with various ensembles such as Orquesta Típica Fernández Fierro, Sexteto Veritango and Orquesta Típica OTRA through Europe, Argentina and America. As a tango musician he is known as a virtuoso interpreter of the work of Astor Piazzolla.

Thomas Pol is a much sought-after bassist in the (inter)national music scene and is connected to Codarts as an ensemble teacher. His spontaneous, strong and grooving style is what defines him as a player, as a sideman he is the strong foundation an ensemble needs. Pol has played with numerous artists such as Benjamin Herman, John Engels, Ack van Rooyen, Caro Emerald, Wess Anderson and Gregory Porter.
