Gustavo Cabrera & Santiago Arias Duo

Now they find each other again in a remarkable duo of violin and bandoneon. Both are multi-instrumentalists and move effortlessly between different musical traditions. Their Argentine background forms the starting point for an open musical dialogue in which tango and folklore merge with jazz and free improvisation. Gustavo Cabrera has worked with Yamandu Costa, Martin Sued, Aaron Parks, and the Metropole Orchestra, among others, and has performed at Teatro Colón, the Concertgebouw, and North Sea Jazz. Santiago Arias has developed his own voice on the bandoneon and has released works including Fuellisto (2014), Absinthe (ECM, 2019), and the solo album Evocación de Carnaval (2021). An intimate encounter between violin and bandoneon, in which tradition and improvisation constantly respond to one another.
