Chris Keulemans speaks with interviewer Hizir Cengiz about his triptych Hospitality (2021), Resistance (2024), and Friendship (2026). A meal with a stranger. Civil resistance. Organized struggle in Minsk, Beirut, and Sarajevo. Chris Keulemans – born in Tunis, based in Amsterdam – draws lessons from his many travels in a decolonizing world in his recently completed trilogy Hospitality. Resistance. Friendship. He understands better than anyone that forging connections across the borders of countries, identities, and histories requires careful consideration. For how do you be hospitable and a good guest?
