Galapagos Abattoir Fermé / Stef Lernous
Welcome to the depths of an old hotel, where the ground floor stinks and loud prayers are heard at night. Four guests get lost in a hinterland of conspiracy theories and end-time scenarios, of sexual neuroses, identity crises and an overload of information. Who am I? What is “normal”? Which reality is “real”? If the CIA brainwashes people and clones and artificial intelligence are no longer science fiction, what certainties remain?
Abattoir Fermé has been one of Flanders' best-known theatre groups for more than 25 years now: bold and fearless, instantly recognisable and eternally unique. Their dark-comedic work is often inspired by ‘the world behind the world’: the secrets of our culture, the roots of our collective fears and the hidden fantasies and rituals of our time. Abattoir also regularly makes excursions outside the theatre with, among other things, films, exhibitions, publications, video clips and so on.
