Facing Transitions WArd/waRD / Ann van den Broek
Facing Transitions is a personal and visual performance that makes the first contours of change visible. It is a search for what happens when you are on the threshold of a new phase. The body changes, habits shift and familiar certainties waver.
Choreographer Ann Van den Broek does not start from herself this time, but from the individual performers: what does transition mean to them? With each dancer, Van den Broek explores a personal theme: a changing body, growing older, menopause, a shift in work or identity. Together, these stories form a lively database of transitions, small and large, everyday and profound. Weaving these perspectives and fragments together creates a multifaceted portrait of change. The performers move between their own stories and those of each other, revealing contrasts and unexpected connections.
Facing Transitions serves as a prelude to Ann Van den Broek’s next performance, called Transitions, in which themes around transition are explored in greater depth. Facing Transitions shows the richness of the process itself: vulnerable, powerful and always in motion.
