The relationship between Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) and his girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) is not what it used to be. When Joel wants to make amends after yet another argument, Clementine does not recognise him. It turns out she has had all memories of Joel erased from her memory with the help of a mysterious company. When Joel finds out about this, he decides to approach the company and undergo the same treatment. But does he actually want to forget Clementine?
