Ests Filharmonisch Kamerkoor Twintigste-eeuwse hoogtepunten

Twentieth-century highlights

With the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and conductor Tõnu Kaljuste, one of Europe's leading vocal ensembles takes the stage. This a cappella programme features music in which the human voice takes on a different role each time: ritualistic, expressive, narrative and tranquil. Frank Martin's Mass for Double Choir forms a richly layered starting point, in which voices relate to one another in complex patterns.

Contrasting this are the direct expressiveness of Philip Glass and the theatrical sharpness of Luciano Berio. Works by Evelin Seppar and Veljo Tormis bring a distinct Baltic perspective, while Arvo Pärt's Which Was the Son of… leaves room for concentration and silence.
