Erkan Oğur & İsmail Hakkı Demircioğlu Masters of Anatolia

Masters of Anatolia

Erkan Oğur and İsmail Hakkı Demircioğlu come together in a rare collaboration that connects the centuries-old musical heritage of Anatolia with spiritual depth and a unique sense of unity.

In this project, two voices and two centuries-old instruments no longer exist as separate elements, but become different reflections of the same breath and the same inner journey. Erkan Oğur's connection with the kopuz liberates the music from rigid boundaries and creates a fluid and meditative sound world. The voice of İsmail Hakkı Demircioğlu carries the sincerity of Anatolian poetry and folk memory, passed down orally for centuries, into the present, thus offering a simple, authentic, and deeply rooted expression.

This collaboration extends beyond folk music and shares a strong spiritual affinity with Sufi and Mevlavi thought. Here, repetition is not a form, but contemplation. Melody becomes another way of remembering. Silence is just as meaningful as sound, and every pause invites the listener to inner reflection. This approach to music avoids ostentation and centers surrender, humility, and presence rather than virtuosity.

The duo invites the listener to view Anatolia not as a geographical region, but as a way of being. During live performances, they succeed in taking the audience beyond words and melodies and bringing them together in a shared emotion. In this project, music is not a story, but an experience. This is not music meant to be consumed, but music meant to be entered.
