We live in a world of endless possibilities. With the push of a button, you are connected; everything is within reach, and yet we feel less and less connected – to each other and to the world around us. Because when things get difficult, we put in our earplugs, disappear into our algorithm, and forget to talk to each other. Where is everyone?
After De zaak Shell and Beste Mensen, Bureau Vergezicht now presents: Een stukje naar de mensen toe. A stand-up show in which Rebekka de Wit examines herself and her consumer behaviour. It seems so innocent; scrolling endlessly on the couch with a bag of smikkelmix, but because of it, you are not living another life.
In the theatre – the only place on earth where there is no advertising screen yet and where your phone must be on airplane mode – Rebekka tries to create a bit of community again. Een stukje naar de mensen toe shows how we long for infinite consumption and at the same time perish from it. And how humour simultaneously provides relief and brings us closer together.
