Devi Poernima Gobardhan
In a world that revolves around efficiency and productivity, how can we make room for feeling and returning to the body?
Three women embody this quest, confronting the tension between reason and intuition, structure (Devī) and surrender, action and reflection (Deva). Their journey is both individual and collective: while they explore their own relationship to this duality, they also reflect broader societal dynamics.
Devī invites introspection and calls for a revaluation of the feminine as an essential and equal counterbalance in the greater whole. Since 2018, Gobardhan has been delving into her personal meaning of feminine power and how this is influenced by social and cultural norms. In her solo Mātā (mother) she focused on the personal meaning of feminine power, influenced by social and cultural norms from the Netherlands' patriarchal past.
With Kālī Mātā (mother Kālī) Gobardhan expanded her research into the imperishable, universal feminine power. In STRĪ (woman) Gobardhan transcends the personal completely. Surrender creates a limitless space in which the universal feminine power can manifest itself freely.
