Two films explore how design research brings diverse parties together to shape complex spatial transitions for the Netherlands of tomorrow. This is followed by a discussion on collaboration, design, and the challenges of practice. The documentary 'Possible Futures: Designing Tomorrow in the Netherlands' shows how design research can make the Netherlands' biggest spatial issues tangible, visible, and open for discussion. You follow five teams of designers investigating the future of water, agriculture, energy, housing, mobility, and healthcare. Their work demonstrates that design research can visualize complex transition situations and helps to think further ahead than quick fixes. It also opens discussions about alternative ways of organizing the space in which we live.
