Four businessmen from Atlanta want to unwind during an adventurous canoe trip in the Appalachians. Nature turns out to be less friendly than expected.
Nature turns out to be less friendly than expected: grim hillbillies hunt the men. With Burt Reynolds and John Voight. Four ordinary men in two canoes sail down a river they only know as a line on a map and enter a wilderness they think they understand. Director Boorman cast Burt Reynolds as the archetypal macho (‘Survival is the name of the game’) and John Voight, Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox as his companions. Their encounter with the mountain dwellers quickly makes their love for nature fade.
