David Nihill

David left Dublin, Ireland, where he was born and raised, until he was 22, and became addicted to travel, an addiction he has never fully overcome. He has lived and worked in twelve countries and visited more than eighty. His shows are based on his extensive travels, cultural observations, attempts at language study, (occasional) international drinking parties, and his somewhat confused immigrant existence.

David is the winner of the prestigious annual San Francisco Comedy Competition (previous finalists have included Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dana Carvey) and runner-up in The Moth, the largest American Grand Slam story competition. As a bestselling author, David recorded his debut special, Documented, for Dry Bar Comedy in 2019, followed by Cultural Appreciation in 2020 and his award-winning show Shelf Help in 2025. He has appeared on TED.com, Sirius XM, Just For Laughs, Netflix is a Joke Festival, RTE's Late Late Show, The Irish Independent, Inc., NPR, and the LA Times, to name just a few. David is a crowd favorite at festivals, and his videos have gone viral many times, with over 1 billion views and more than 2 million followers on social media.
