Danssalon weekend - Salsa, Tango Swing en Forró in één weekend!

After last year’s success, the Danssalon weekend is back!

An extra-long, extra-festive weekend full of dance. Throughout the weekend, dance lovers can enjoy themselves to the fullest! This vibrant event, taking place on July 26 and 27, is all about four different dance styles, accompanied by DJs and professional dance instructors. We’ll be announcing the participating dance schools and full program soon!

Whether you're a tango expert or eager to learn salsa, everyone is welcome on the dance floor. Young and old, beginners and experienced dancers – everyone can join these lively dance salons. Come enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and let yourself be carried away by the rhythms of swing, afro dance, tango, and Latin.

Program Saturday, July 26

12:00 – 15:00 Swing with Roffaswing

Swing is a high-energy partner dance full of joy, expression, and rhythm. It originated in the 1920s and 1930s in the African-American jazz scene and is enjoying a full revival today thanks to communities like Roffaswing. This Rotterdam-based dance school brings people together through Lindy Hop and other swing styles in an open and inclusive atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned Lindy Hopper or trying a triple step for the first time, the Danssalon is all about having fun on the dance floor. This session starts with a workshop, followed by plenty of time to dance freely to upbeat swing tunes.

15:00 – 17:00 Forró

Forró is a vibrant and soulful music style and partner dance from northeastern Brazil. With rhythmic melodies and a relaxed vibe, it’s all about connection and having fun together. The session kicks off with a crash course to teach you the basic steps – no dance experience or partner required. Then DJ Nick do Mundo takes over with a vinyl set full of traditional forró sounds that will definitely get you moving. Come experience the warmth and joy of this summery dance style!

12:00 – 14:00 Tango with Tangoschool Cuartito Azul

Immerse yourself in the world of Argentine tango – a dance of elegance, intensity, and refined connection. Cuartito Azul is Rotterdam’s leading tango school, passionately organizing lessons, milongas, and salons for many years. As in previous editions, they’ll be dancing the tango at this year’s Danssalon. The outdoor floor sets the stage for an intimate tango salon in the sun, welcoming both experienced dancers and curious passersby. Start with a workshop to get a taste – and feel the magic of tango.

14:00 – 17:00 Salsa & Bachata with Typical Tropical

End your weekend on a high note with Typical Tropical – the go-to platform for Latin dance in Rotterdam. Expect a tropical afternoon filled with Salsa, Bachata y más, under the open sky in the heart of the city. Dance to joyful, infectious rhythms and soak up the summer vibes. Typical Tropical brings the good vibes, sunny beats, and a warm welcome for everyone. No tropical holiday this year? No worries – you’ll find it right here on the dance floor. Warm up with an intermediate-level workshop by Helen & Clayton, then dance the afternoon away to DJ Carlos’ sizzling set.
