About the film Coward
At the Belgian front during the First World War, Pierre tries to hold his own among the other men. Behind the lines, he meets the charismatic Francis. Francis organizes improvised theatre performances with a group of rejected soldiers to keep the troops' morale high. In the middle of the muddy trenches, where vulnerability seems to have no place, Francis opens an unexpected space of imagination, freedom and tenderness for Pierre. Behind the scenes, the men seek each other out more and more often, and their shared moments take on increasing meaning. Something emerges that the war does not seem able to destroy: moments of freedom and an unexpected love.
