Concert Cemîl Qoçgîrî

Cemîl Qoçgîrî is a virtuoso on the tenbûr, a composer, and a guardian of the Kurdish-Anatolian musical tradition. He grew up in a family from the Qoçgîrî region (Sivas), where stories, melodies, and the spiritual depth of the Mesopotamian culture shaped him from a young age. The tenbûr, a traditional Kurdish long-necked lute, became much more than just an instrument to him. It is his voice and a bridge between worlds. In his playing, ancient melodies merge with modern forms of expression, past and present, East and West. With his compositions and projects, Qoçgîrî creates musical works that preserve the rich heritage of the Kurdish and Mesopotamian sound world while simultaneously retelling it. His music is an invitation to experience the universal values of peace, love, and connection – a sound world between memory, exile, and hope.
