Brasadag
Celebrating freedom with music, dance, food and cultural atmosphere
Brasa means embrace. Brasadag is an indoor cultural festival where Surinamese and Caribbean roots come together: from grandmother to grandchild, from neighbour to visitor from afar. On 25 November 1975, Suriname became independent. 51 years later, we celebrate that history in Rotterdam, the city where many Surinamese and Caribbean Dutch people have found their home. Brasadag connects Suriname, Curaçao and Aruba with the Netherlands. We share music, stories, food and traditions, and pass them on to the next generation.
