Boekpresentatie: Healing is a vibe door Mike Bindraban

In his book Healing is a Vibe, Jazz en de kunst van het thuiskomen, Mike Bindraban explores what jazz can tell us about identity, loss, love and healing. With live music by Ronald Snijders and Tony Roe.

The book presentation will take place on the foyer stage and is free to attend. There will be live music by Ronald Snijders (flute) and Tony Roe (piano). In his book Healing is a Vibe, Jazz en de kunst van het thuiskomen, Mike Bindraban explores what jazz can teach us about identity, loss, love, and healing. Drawing on his own Surinamese background and a life in the middle of the international jazz world, he journeys through personal memories, encounters, and conversations with artists, writers, creators, and thinkers such as Esperanza Spalding, Shabaka Hutchings, Nduduzo Makhathini, Ashley Kahn, Vijay Iyer, and Ronald Snijders. When loss enters his own life, those conversations take on a different meaning. Jazz proves to be more than just music. It becomes a way of looking and listening, a lens in which different histories can exist side by side and in which not everything needs to be resolved in order to move forward. Healing is a Vibe is a personal and candid book about ancestry and diaspora, fatherhood and loss, connection, and the courage to start over. About the stories we inherit, the people who shape us, and the question of whether coming home is perhaps not a destination, but a movement. A continuous rehearsal. Because sometimes healing doesn't start with an answer, but with a vibe.
