BEHIND THE WALL Conny Janssen Danst

The new performance

BEHIND THE WALL by Conny Janssen raises important questions about identity, connection and loss. The dance performance shows an impressive journey. What does it mean to feel at home somewhere? And what happens when that home changes or disappears? All this with live music by Roufaida, an artist who pushes boundaries.

A search for home

This production builds on the earlier work by Conny Janssen, HOME (2017/2021). In that work, the central question was where and with whom you feel at home. In BEHIND THE WALL, the dancers find their way in a world full of memories, loss and hope. What do you take with you from the past when you have to start over? Where can you feel at home? How do you stay connected to your roots?

Dance and music come together

The diverse dance ensemble of Conny Janssen Danst brings this search intensely to life. Conny Janssen creates a universe in which personal stories and universal questions come together. She does this with her characteristic choreographic style, a mix of raw energy and quiet poetry. The live music by Roufaida is the heart of the performance. Her sound, with North African influences, alternative pop and poetic lyrics, reinforces the emotions of the dance.
