Diversity of perspectives
In 'Umbrella House', you see how the wooden house by Japanese architect Kazuo Shinohara, built in 1961, moved from Tokyo to the Vitra Campus in Germany. 'Elephant Families' highlights the former Elephant & Castle shopping centre in London, home to Latin American immigrants, which was demolished in 2020. 'Moving in Time' pays tribute to the Kruserbrink flats in Hardenberg, which were torn down after decades of occupancy. Finally, 'My House is Dying' shows how in Europe demolition is often more lucrative than renovation, with personal stories about the consequences for communities and the housing crisis.
