Free Space is an intimate, open improvisation concert in which Peter Somuah, together with special musicians, creates space for the unexpected. An encounter between breath, sound and silence – where music is created in the moment.
With Free Space, trumpeter and composer Peter Somuah creates a free space in which music unfolds unplanned and intuitively. Without a fixed structure or score, he invites musicians to listen, trust and create something new together. Together with vocalist and cellist Sanem Kalfa, guitarist Ella Zirina and drummer Jens Meijer, a soundscape is created in which silence, rhythm, voice and improvisation flow into each other. For Somuah, this way of working is more than an artistic choice – it is an attitude towards life, a plea for slowing down and being present. In a world full of haste and plans, Free Space offers space for not knowing, for attention and for vulnerability. The evening is part of the Batavierhuis x North Sea Round Town series and shows the interplay between artistic freedom and deep listening. Don't expect a standard concert, but a unique musical experience in which every note is new – and every silence counts.
