All Day I Dream About Soccer (ADIDAS) Ahilan Ratnamohan
A performance for football fans, theatre lovers and football haters on the border between a dance performance, football match, lecture performance and catwalk. Ahilan Ratnamohan's budding love for football did not start from his fascination with the sport, but because of the aesthetics of football outfits.
His first memory of a World Cup was not about a legendary goal or an iconic victory, but about the braided ponytail of Roberto Baggio and the shiny goalkeeper jersey of Jorge Campo. To this day, he vividly remembers every shirt of all the teams he played against as a child in Australia. Even then, a football shirt meant much more to Ahilan than an average piece of clothing. Later, he went a step further. Old curtains from his mother became suspenders to tie his shin guards. The cut-off sleeve of an old Nike sweater served as an armband. Ahilan's shirt obsession diminished as he attempted to become a professional footballer himself. But the impact of football fashion on movement, identity and culture continued to fascinate him immensely.
