African Diaspora Performing Arts Festival (ADPAF) 2026

The African Diaspora Performing Arts Festival 2026 by the Untold foundation brings together professional creators working at the intersection of African traditions, spirituality, and contemporary performing arts. This year's theme is Rituals of resistance.
The focus is on rituals as a source of strength, identity, and resistance. The body plays an important role in this as a carrier of history and expression, and of traditions from the African diaspora to new forms of performance.
Untold is presenting a new performance, inspired by resistance fighter Cécile Fatiman and the spiritual origins of the Haitian Revolution. In this, ritual is central as a source of strength and change.
In addition, the Ivorian company Abobo Gare will be performing. They show how life in the city can also be a form of resistance. In their energetic and physical dance, they use the body to express strength, identity, and connection as a modern form of ritual.
Together, these performances show how rituals, both past and present, contribute to resistance and expression.
