Perron will close this april

Jeroen Veenstra

Perron opened its doors in April 2011. The stage now announces that it is closing for good. Perron will offer 13 more weekends of programming with old familiars and new heroes until it closes on the same weekend as its opening in 2011.

In all these years, many well-known names have performed such as Jeff Mills, Anita Meyer, Ben Klock, Nina Kraviz, Benny Rodrigues, Speedy J, Simian Mobile Disco, Felix da Housecat, Dixon and David Vunk. Upcoming line-ups include this weekend first JSPRV35, Julia Maria and Rosati on 23 Janauri and Grace Dahl, Any Mello and MYRA on Saturday 25 January. Octave One, Ben Klock, Len Faki, Nadia Struiwigh, Animastic Beliefs, Patrick Mason, DVS1 and Freddy K are also coming along.

Perron always had to operate under the threat of the developing city. In 2015, Perron closed because the area development was to begin. But as nothing happened, Perron reopened anyway in 2018.

Now the closure is really for good. 'It has been enough. And not because that building that has been due for demolition for 15 years is finally going down. Perron is closing because it's time.

With the closure of Perron, a place, a venue, a club is disappearing. But what Perron was made of: the people, the dancers, the staff, the artists; the soul, that remains. Those aren't going anywhere, those bring forth the feeling. Perron has always been a place made and carried by the community, and that community lives on. Everyone who has made Perron what it was over the past 15 years deserves all the credit.

Because 2025 came and 2025 went, and now that we have stumbled past our own dreamed future, it is time to show one more time what makes Perron, Perron. With our friends and family, our vague acquaintances and lost loves, with Rotterdam.''
