Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra seeks music lovers

Music knows how to touch us in many ways and plays a role in just about everyone's life. Together with Erasmus MC and Erasmus University, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra is organising a large experiment in which an audience watches performances by the orchestra and a pop band. At the same time, audience members' heart rates are measured and they fill in questionnaires. On 25 May and 30 June, the musical surveys are under the title: Live Music & Wellbeing. The survey starts at 13:30 and lasts until around 16:00. As diverse an audience as possible is sought. After your participation, you will receive a VVV voucher worth €25 or a ticket for a Proms concert by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. So sign up immediately via this link.

Music makes you happy or sad, calm or energetic. Previous research has shown that listening to music on your own is also good for your health. For instance, music can reduce anxiety and make pain less severe. But of course, a concert is more than just music. It is something you experience together with the audience and the musicians. That is why the Erasmus Medical Centre, Erasmus University and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra are investigating how concerts (pop and classical) affect our hearts, our heads and our relationships with each other.

Help make this Rotterdam study a success. The concerts are on 25 May and 30 June in de Doelen and start at 13.30. There will be a short pop performance by artists from Codarts and a classical concert. Around 16.00 it's over and you can opt for a €25 VVV voucher or a concert ticket. You can register now via rpho.nl/muziek-welzijn.
