Vlamousse - Het Goede Voorbeeld
Musical and brutally honest show about motherhood
(Please note! This performance has been moved from the kleine Walhalla to Kantine Walhalla!)
According to the Theaterkrant, this original duo gave a confident middle finger to their doubts about motherhood in their previous show. This time, Vlamousse takes to the stage as, yes: brand-new mothers.
One of them, Brigitte van Bakel, had a child with her husband, just as the picture-perfect scenario dictates, while the other, Maya van As, pioneered and inseminated her way as a queer person into a rainbow family. Two completely different stories with one common denominator: the child itself is fantastic, but the whole mess surrounding it is an outright disillusionment.
It is time for a new example. A good example. So that no one else enters parenthood so poorly prepared. Mercilessly honest and with great hilarity, Vlamousse takes on the reality of young mothers: the birthing class that said your body was made for giving birth, the idea that breastfeeding is a painless gift of nature, and the conviction that you can only be a real mother if you have given birth yourself.
Het goede voorbeeld is an imaginative, musical, and razor-sharp show for brand-new mothers, pregnant mothers, once-mothers, never-mothers, older mothers, queer mothers, non-biological mothers, and fathers. In other words, all types of parents. And childless people who enjoy schadenfreude.
The press on "Vlamousse once again pulls countless irresistibly creative scenes and sketches out of the closet" - Trouw ★★★★ "Strikes exactly the right chord" - Theaterkrant "A modern performance, straight to the point, no clichés, just the raw story" - Theaterparadijs ★★★★★
