VHVR #10 met Mulder, Willems & zn, Farbenfroh & Tribolumina

Mulder, Willems & Zn is a trio that does not so much play music, but exposes layers of sound: intuitive, unpredictable and radical in its improvisation. Nora Mulder (keyboards, strings, gear), Karen Willems (drums, voice) and Lukas Simonis (strings, noise, electronics) form a sonic archaeologist team that transcends genres and breaks open sound. From whisperingly quiet to disruptively loud, their performances are rituals of listening, disrupting and transforming.

Tribolumina, an audiovisual project by SpOp (Marit Shalem) and Dirk Bruinsma, together with percussionist Christian Smith, explores the phenomenon of triboluminescence — light created by friction. Using found objects, metal installations, video projections and live electronics, a vibrant interplay of image, movement and sound is created. Vibrations become visible, structures audible — an in-between world of pulsating rhythms, layered textures and light that makes itself heard.
