Transition-Scapes: Reimagining Energy Futures

Transition-Scapes is a research project that investigates how to visualize the energy transition with interactive exhibitions, in order to initiate conversations about changes in the living environment. In collaboration with designers, researchers, students and experts, a design approach was developed to make future scenarios tangible and discussable. The prototypes were tested at two locations in transition: Haven-Stad in Amsterdam and Huis van de Toekomst in Rotterdam. During the closing meeting, the insights will be shared, including how local energy systems can be better visualized to actively involve residents. The program consists of presentations, discussions and an interactive demonstration of two simulation models. This meeting invites reflection on the role of design in imagining and shaping our energy future.
