Tilting Axis Fellow Amanda T. McIntyre presenteert Present Continuous
This year’s Tilting Axis Fellow, Amanda T. McIntyre, will be in conversation with Annalee Davis and Federica Notari about her project Present Continuous.
Her research focuses on the archiving of contemporary Caribbean masquerade traditions, with a special focus on the materials used and the question of who the culture actually belongs to. Present Continuous explores sustainable ways to archive and preserve mas – contemporary Caribbean masquerade cultures. During the Nieuwe Instituut/Tilting Axis Fellowship, she brings together architecture, mas , queer studies and climate justice. In this way, she aims to find ways to protect and preserve Caribbean carnival traditions and costumes in a way that is good for the environment and serves local communities.
