The Phoenician Scheme

We had to wait two years for it, but here it is: the new Wes Anderson! A comedic spy thriller with Benicio del Toro, Scarlett Johansson, Riz Ahmed and Benedict Cumberbatch.

For all fans, Anderson's debut film Bottle Rocket can be seen in LantarenVenster on 3, 8 and 9 June. We had to wait two years for it, but here it is: the new Wes Anderson! The Phoenician Scheme, announced as a spy thriller, is Anderson's thirteenth film as a director and the latest in a series that he wrote together with Roman Coppola (son of Francis Ford Coppola).

He previously did so with The Darjeeling Limited, Moonrise Kingdom, The French Dispatch and Isle of Dogs. Benicio del Toro plays "Zsa-Zsa" Korda, one of the richest people in Europe, who has survived six plane crashes and has nine sons and one daughter.

A nun named Liesel, played by Mia Threapleton, Korda enlists his daughter in a treacherous "land and sea infrastructure project." The cast also includes Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis and Benedict Cumberbatch.
