Life-sized animals parade through the streets: Come and watch and experience the special encounter between man and animal!

The Herds in Rotterdam

The impressive international theatre production The Herds is coming to Rotterdam. Large animal figures roam the streets of the city. An international team of artists and one hundred Rotterdammers control the vulnerable ecological animals. They are fleeing the consequences of climate change.

Meeting between man and animal

When the animals enter Rotterdam, a special encounter between man and animal takes place. Nature meets the urban environment during this event. The Herds is more than a parade; it is an artistic experience. It makes the relationship between man, nature, and the city palpable. This groundbreaking art project is coming to the International Community Arts Festival.

Worldwide phenomenon

By 2025, The Herds had already traveled more than 20,000 kilometers. It grew into a global phenomenon. Director and author Amir Nizar Zuabi conceived and directed the project. It is a collaboration between The Walk Productions, known for Little Amal , and Ukwanda Puppet Company.

Dance intervention

For the Rotterdam edition, a special dance intervention has been added. Jordy Dik of DIK Danstheater is creating this. Performers from Compagnie Tiuri and dance and music students from Codarts are collaborating on this. Compagnie Tiuri's ensemble consists of performers with and without disabilities. They bring a unique richness of movement language to this event. You will experience a special performance.
