Stadsgesprek: Equalize the Ecosystem

On 15 October, N8W8 R’dam is organising a city discussion about a healthier ecosystem for electronic music makers. With panels, a SENA presentation and live performances.

Fair income and mutual support What is needed to build a sustainable professional practice as a music maker in Rotterdam? Sanne Lola (Shunter) and Albert van Abbe (Dekmantel) discuss the financial reality of being a creator. From paid performances and fair remuneration to subsidy schemes and the distribution of income from music usage. The role of rights organizations such as BUMA/STEMRA will also be covered. Simon de Kooning will give a separate presentation on behalf of SENA. Mental health and mutual support are important points of focus. Space to create and grow Najel Monteiro and Eddy Kennedy (Kessler) discuss what Rotterdam makers need to develop themselves. Is there enough affordable workspace, are there enough rehearsal spaces and accessible stages? And how can the city support makers in their development and international visibility, for example through showcases during ADE or Abrupt in Brussels? Live performances by vixnde and Michline Plukker & Rajiv Daryanani complete the program. N8W8 R’dam invites makers, professionals and interested parties to join the conversation about the future of the Rotterdam electronic music scene.
