Amsterdam improvisation ensemble Spinifex is celebrating its 20th anniversary with their brand new project MAXXIMUS. The band is working with three renowned guest musicians: New York viola player Jessica Pavone, Cologne cellist Elisabeth Coudoux and Berlin-based Greek-German Evi Filippou (vibraphone, percussion).
Spinifex is known for its explosive mix of free jazz, complex rhythms and daring improvisation. Time and again they push boundaries by adventurously combining improvisation and composition. Every performance is a celebration of musical freedom and innovation. With MAXXIMUS they explore an acoustic sound world in which the colours of string instruments, acoustic guitar, bass clarinet and vibraphone come together.
