Son Hasat
The Turkish reed fields form the breathtaking backdrop to an allegorical story about people who cunningly search for a better life.
Ali and his wife Aysel live in a remote Anatolian village, surrounded by a vast lake and endless reed fields. They work hard to survive, but are exploited and abused by mafia bosses. The bosses are involved in a war with each other, while there is also a conflict about bird poaching. Aysel seems to accept the circumstances, but Ali continues to resist. When one of the bosses disappears in an accident, Ali's situation becomes increasingly complex. In his search for a way out, he tries to smuggle illegal reed, risking his own life.
Son Hasat has a slow-burning pace. The daily life in this Turkish village becomes tangible against the background of nature, where the reed fields form a breathtaking but claustrophobic backdrop. The allegorical story follows people who try to escape their misery with cunning means, despite the risks. The reed fields act as a labyrinthine, suffocating character in the relentless battle between good and evil, where the boundaries become increasingly blurred.
