Screening The Neon Hieroglyph en Artist Talk met Tai Shani
In The Neon Hieroglyph, artist Tai Shani presents nine hypnotic narratives that expand on her ongoing creation of feminist mythology and combine them with CGI videos and a soundtrack by Manchester-born composer Maxwell Sterling.
The Neon Hieroglyph weaves a series of poetic reflections on a feminized history of ergot, a fungus that grows on rye and other grains and from which LSD is derived. Curator Saskia van Kampen will engage in conversation with Tai Shani after the screening.
For Shani, the psychedelic is a space that can generate new visions of society. The Neon Hieroglyph uses these perspectives to unleash new ideas and alternative realities; a dreamlike journey that takes us on an epic journey through different times and universes.
Tai Shani's work is currently also on display at Beyond Surrealism.
