For nearly 50 years, the public swimming pool in Numakage, a suburb of Tokyo, has been a beloved social gathering place. The surrounding area is now being developed, threatening demolition. Through the five stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance), director Shingo Ota presents a bittersweet ode to this public building. He shows the important role it plays in the lives of many people. Parents, employees, neighbors, and the local LGBTQ+ community are protesting en masse against the closure.
