My Memory Is Full of Ghosts

Palestinian-Syrian filmmaker Anas Zawahri takes the viewer to the devastated city of Homs, where residents try to rebuild their lives after the devastating Syrian civil war. The film functions as a visual elegy, in which memories and reality merge.

Zawahri's directorial debut offers a moving portrait of a city struggling with the aftermath of war. Through long, static shots of abandoned and bombed buildings, interspersed with scenes from everyday life, the film reflects on the senselessness of violence and the will to survive of ordinary citizens. This documentary is a poignant reminder of the scars that war leaves behind and the indelible traces it leaves on both cities and the minds of their inhabitants.
