Mannen, kwetsbaarheid en verbinding

Mannen Huilen Ook is organising an interactive workshop on masculinity, mental health and loneliness. Feel heard, connect and discover practical tools in Rotterdam.

During this interactive workshop, Mannen Huilen Ook invites you to take part in an open and accessible conversation about masculinity, mental health and loneliness.

When was the last time you truly felt heard? Many men are surrounded by people every day, yet still sometimes feel lonely. We talk about work, sports, relationships and everyday life. But how often do we talk about what is really going on inside us?

Why do men sometimes find it difficult to share their feelings? How can you feel lonely even when you have people around you? And what can we do to create a deeper connection with ourselves and one another? No lengthy lectures or complicated theories, but relatable situations, honest conversations and interactive exercises that invite you to look at yourself and others from a different perspective.

What can you expect? An open conversation about masculinity, emotions and loneliness. Interactive exercises and relatable dilemmas. Space to share experiences and insights. Practical tools to build connections and make loneliness easier to talk about. You don't have to share anything you don't want to. Listening is also a way of participating. Because you don't have to be alone to feel lonely. And you don't have to carry it all alone.

We will decide on the language of each session together with the participants. Based on our experience over the past years, most sessions have been held in English.

About the host Irenio Dionizio is a father, youth coach and founder of Mannen Huilen Ook. Drawing on his own experiences with mental health, he works to break the taboo surrounding vulnerability among men. Through walks, workshops and open conversations, he brings men together and creates space to talk about mental health. His mission is to show men that vulnerability is not a weakness and that no one has to carry everything alone.

About Dokhuis Dialogue Dokhuis Dialogue is a space to practise dialogue, where we do not only talk and listen, but also work, create, reflect and experiment together. Guided by our overarching theme ‘Through the Eyes of the Other’, we explore different perspectives and practise looking beyond our own assumptions. Not to always reach agreement, but to allow ourselves to be questioned by the experiences of others and to explore together what is needed to live together with difference. This year, Dokhuis Dialogue is centered around Connecting, Transforming. We meet different communities and organisations, each showing from their own experiences how connection takes shape in practice. At the same time, we explore and practise samenlevingspedagogiek: how do we shape living together, and how do we create space for different people and perspectives to participate?

Dokhuis is on the ground floor and thus available for visitors with a wheelchair. If you need extra assistance please send an email to h.danesh@nivoz.nl

Walk-in: 18:30 Workshop: 19:00 – 21:00 Location: Dokhuis, Rotterdam Participation: Free, but registration is required. By purchasing a donation ticket, you'll help Dokhuis to make more events that brings us together. ___________
