Discover the Magic of Light

Discover what happens when you can capture light in this creative workshop. You will experiment with light, color, shadow, and reflection. Using transparent paper, old CDs, and fishing line, you will create your own light catchers. Together with Rachel, you will discover the effects of light through colors, reflections on CDs, and movement in space. This workshop is full of experiments, wonder, and surprising discoveries. Participation is free, but registration is required. By purchasing a donation ticket, you support Dokhuis and help keep other events free.

About the Children's Neighborhood Workshops

These workshops are suitable for children with diverse language backgrounds and levels. Whether you speak Dutch or another language, or are not yet very proficient with language, you can participate. Simple and clear language is used, everything is explained step by step and translated where necessary. Rachel de Waal, a maker and art educator in training, leads the workshop. She has a background in graphic design and autonomous art. Her work focuses on the process: exploring, creating, reflecting, and inspiring others to find their own creative voice. She stimulates children's creativity in a playful and accessible way. The Kinder Wijkatelier at the Dokhuis is a new art program for primary school children (ages 4-12). The central theme is 'your environment'. Art is used to connect children with the world around them in a sensory and creative way, such as nature, buildings, people, and other beings. Children learn to create freely, express their voice through art, and connect with their neighborhood. Parents are welcome to participate actively.
