John Scofield returns to LantarenVenster with a brand new band: John Scofield's Long Days Quartet. The name of the quartet is a tribute to the long, bright days of July. In this new formation, Scofield resumes his collaboration with keyboard virtuoso John Medeski. The quartet performs new, groovy compositions by Scofield, and classic Sco material in a fresh, funky version. Get ready for a musical firework full of funk and blues-inspired jazz!
John Scofield's (1951) career began under the watchful eye of Gary Burton. He then played in the Billy Cobham/George Duke Band and worked with jazz greats such as Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and Miles Davis. The legendary guitarist always manages to surprise with music that he uniquely puts his own stamp on – which has made him one of the most virtuoso musicians in the world for decades.
