Is dit nu liefde Ayşegül Karaca | Theater RAST

Ayşegül Karaca grew up in a family with domestic violence. This leads to inevitable questions such as: What does it do to a mother when she sees character traits of her violent husband reflected in the child she loves unconditionally? And what does it do to a child when her mother would rather hide half of her DNA? In her third performance, Karaca translates her personal experiences into a piece about a complex mother-son relationship.

Midas grows up as a little prince who wants for nothing. But in an attempt to get closer to her son, his mother actually pushes him away. As a young adult, he feels unseen in his 'masculinity' and is seduced by traditional and misogynistic views on the internet. Despite his feminist upbringing, he seems to be falling back into his father's behavior.
